Pollen is gathered by the bees while on their flights. They bring it back to their hive, where they pass through the pollen trap. I then gather the pollen from each hive alternating days, so not to take too much pollen. I repeated this process for about 5 weeks last summer. Gathering the pollen was always a treat. Each hive has unique colors of pollen that they collected. Most would only have 1 or 2 different pollen types. I would always imagine them coming back to the hive overjoyed to tell the others where they discovered their find to then lead them to an abundance.
Once collected from the traps, I froze the pollen and then dehydrated it. The pollen is jarred in 6 ounce glass hex jars. I suggest starting at a small dose and building up to more as you feel you'd like. You could mix the pollen in your smoothie, oatmeal, or yogurt. I encourage you to do some research and give bee pollen a try!
